McCarthy
is one smart cat. He knew he was in serious trouble so he chose the
right house to go to for help. The house owners are true animal lovers
who were feeding some strays, but when they discovered McCarthy they
realised he needed much more than food and shelter. It was obvious he
had an injured leg and that’s when AWA came into the picture. McCarthy
was taken to one of our vets and we were astonished to discover that he
was already neutered, so obviously had a home somewhere. His broken leg
was put in a cast and we advertised everywhere to try and trace his
owners, with no success. Unfortunately, a check up X-ray showed that
his leg was not healing and the decision was made to amputate. McCarthy
has now made a full recovery from his surgery and is happily bouncing
around in the “playroom” at the vet clinic with his new friend,
Marmaduke. Cats with amputations adapt very well to their
condition. Please read the letter
from the owner of Alexi, another 3-legged cat who was adopted from AWA
in 2001, which tells how well he is doing and what a joy he is.
